In standard darts you must finish exactly on zero with a double or the bullseye. Every score from 2 to 170 can be checked out in three darts except seven “bogey” numbers.

Search every combination of up to two set-up darts (S1–S20, 25, T1–T20, D1–D20, Bull) followed by a double (D1–D20 or Bull = 50) whose total equals the score; report the one with the fewest darts.

Where:
- S, D, T: single, double and treble of a segment
- 25, Bull: outer bull (25) and bullseye (50, which counts as a double)

## Worked example
1. No single dart or two darts can make 170 (the most two darts can score while finishing on a double is 110).
2. Three darts: T20 (60) + T20 (60) = 120 leaves 50, the bullseye.
3. 60 + 60 + 50 = 170, finishing on the bull, which counts as a double.

**Result:** 170, the “big fish”, is the highest checkout: T20, T20, Bull.

## What the result means

The route shown is one valid finish chosen with common doubles (D20, D16, D8…) first. Players often choose a different set-up so that a missed dart still leaves a finish.

## Assumptions and limits
- Double-out rules: the last dart must be a double or the bullseye, and the score must reach exactly zero.
- It does not choose routes to protect against missed darts, and does not handle straight-out or double-in formats.

## Questions

### What are the bogey numbers?

159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169 cannot be finished with three darts, even though they are below 170.

### Can you finish on 1?

No. Going to 1 is a bust because no double is worth 1.
