Accessibility

Our accessibility target, what we have built for it, and known limitations.

We aim for GM¹X CalcVerse to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we have built in

  • Every calculator can be used with a keyboard alone. Search opens with Ctrl + K (⌘ K on a Mac) or the “/” key.
  • All inputs have visible labels; errors are shown next to the field and announced to screen readers.
  • The main result is announced politely after you stop typing, so it does not interrupt.
  • Charts have the same numbers available as a table for screen readers, and long tables are scrollable with the keyboard.
  • Formulas are written in MathML, which screen readers can read out, and each also has a plain-text version.
  • Animation on the homepage is decorative, starts only after the page has loaded, and is switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • The site works when zoomed to 400% and on narrow phone screens without horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

Live results need JavaScript. Without it, each page still shows the formula and a complete worked example so you can calculate by hand.
