Finance calculators
Work out what a loan really costs, how fast savings grow and what inflation does to money over time. Every finance calculator shows its formula and a worked example, so you can check the number yourself.
- EMI CalculatorAn EMI (equated monthly instalment) is the fixed amount you repay every month on a loan. It covers that month’s interest plus part of the principal, so the loan is fully repaid at the end of the tenure.
- Mortgage CalculatorA mortgage payment has two parts: principal and interest (P&I), which repays the loan, plus property tax and homeowners insurance if they are collected with the payment. This calculator shows both.
- Compound Interest CalculatorCompound interest is interest earned on interest. Each period, the interest is added to the balance, so the next period’s interest is calculated on a larger amount.
- Simple Interest CalculatorSimple interest is charged or earned only on the original principal. It grows by the same amount every year, unlike compound interest.
- SIP CalculatorA SIP (systematic investment plan) invests a fixed amount every month, usually in a mutual fund. This calculator estimates what those instalments could grow to at a constant expected rate of return.
- Savings Goal CalculatorTell the calculator what you want to have, by when, and what you already have saved. It works out the monthly deposit needed, including the growth interest adds along the way.
- Loan Amortization CalculatorAmortization is how a loan is paid off through equal regular payments. Each payment first covers the interest due for that month; the rest reduces the balance.
- Inflation CalculatorInflation is the general rise in prices over time. At 3% a year, something that costs 100 today costs about 134 in ten years, and 100 of today’s money buys about 74 of today’s goods.
