How to use this calculator
- Enter or choose offers made.
- Enter or choose offers accepted.
- Enter or choose offers still pending.
- The offer acceptance rate updates as you type. Use Copy result or Share to keep it.
Method
Decided = Offers − Pending; Acceptance % = Accepted ÷ Decided × 100; Declined = Decided − Accepted
- Pending
- offers made but not yet answered
Worked example
- Decided offers = 25 − 0 = 25.
- Acceptance = 20 ÷ 25 × 100 = 80%; 5 declined (20%).
20 of 25 offers accepted is an 80% offer acceptance rate.
What the result means
A falling acceptance rate often points to pay below market, a slow process or a gap between the job as advertised and as described at interview. Asking declining candidates why is the quickest diagnosis.
Assumptions and limits
- Rescinded offers are left out of offers made.
- Small numbers swing the rate a lot; look at several months together.
Questions
Why exclude pending offers?
A pending offer has not been accepted or declined yet. Counting it as a decline would understate the rate.
Do counter-offers count?
Count the final outcome. A candidate who negotiates and then accepts is an acceptance.
