How to use this calculator

  1. Enter or choose tracked orders.
  2. Enter or choose average order value.
  3. Enter or choose contribution margin.
  4. Enter or choose creator fee.
  5. Enter or choose gifted product cost.
  6. The campaign ROI updates as you type. Use Copy result or Share to keep it.

Method

Contribution = Orders × AOV × Contribution margin; ROI = (Contribution − Total cost) ÷ Total cost × 100; Break-even orders = ⌈Total cost ÷ (AOV × Margin)⌉

Total cost
creator fee + gifted product + other costs (the ROI denominator)
AOV
average order value after discount

Worked example

  1. Revenue = 120 × 75 = $9,000; contribution = 9,000 × 0.50 = $4,500.
  2. Cost = 2,500 + 500 = $3,000; ROI = (4,500 − 3,000) ÷ 3,000 × 100 = 50%.
  3. Break-even orders = 3,000 ÷ (75 × 0.50) = 80.

120 tracked orders return 50% on a $3,000 campaign; it needed 80 orders to break even.

What the result means

Tracked codes and links undercount: some buyers see the post and buy later without the code. Treat the ROI as a floor and compare creators on the same tracking method.

Assumptions and limits

  • Only orders tracked to the creator are counted.
  • Contribution margin is the same for every order.
  • Brand awareness and content you can reuse in ads are real benefits that this calculation does not value.

Questions

Should the discount be included?

Yes: enter the average order value after the discount, so the lost margin is reflected.
