How to use this calculator
- Enter or choose organic sessions.
- Enter or choose conversions from those sessions.
- Enter or choose organic revenue.
- The organic conversion rate updates as you type. Use Copy result or Share to keep it.
Method
Conversion rate = Conversions ÷ Organic sessions × 100; Revenue per session = Revenue ÷ Sessions; Revenue per conversion = Revenue ÷ Conversions
- Organic sessions
- sessions from organic search (the denominator)
- Conversions
- goal completions or orders in those sessions
Worked example
- Conversion rate = 120 ÷ 8,000 × 100 = 1.5%.
- Revenue per session = 9,600 ÷ 8,000 = $1.20.
- Revenue per conversion = 9,600 ÷ 120 = $80.
120 conversions from 8,000 organic sessions is a 1.5% conversion rate, worth $1.20 per session.
What the result means
Revenue per session lets you compare organic search with paid channels: it is roughly the most you could pay per click for the same traffic and break even on revenue.
Assumptions and limits
- Sessions and conversions use the same date range and attribution.
- Analytics tools differ in whether a session can count more than one conversion; check how yours counts before comparing.
Questions
Sessions or users?
Either works if you state it. Session-based rates are lower because one user can have several sessions.
