How to use this calculator
- Enter or choose toll at each plaza (one way).
- Enter or choose journey.
- Enter or choose number of trips.
- Enter or choose discount (optional).
- Enter or choose one-way distance.
- The total tolls for all trips updates as you type. Use Copy result or Share to keep it.
Method
One way = Σ plaza tolls; Per trip = One way × (1 + Return% ÷ 100 if return) × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100); Total = Per trip × Trips
- Return%
- share of the outbound toll charged on the way back
- Discount%
- any tag or frequent-user reduction
Worked example
- One way = 5.50 + 3.25 + 7 = 15.75.
- Return trip = 15.75 × 2 = 31.50; less 10% = 28.35.
- Four trips = 28.35 × 4 = 113.40, or 28.35 ÷ 420 km = 0.0675 per km.
Four return trips through three plazas cost 113.40 in tolls after a 10% discount.
What the result means
Compare the toll cost per km with the fuel and time a toll-free route would add. For trucks, tolls often depend on axles or weight, so make sure the plaza charges match your vehicle class.
Assumptions and limits
- The same plazas and charges apply on every trip.
- Distance-based or time-of-day tolling is not modelled; enter the charge you would actually pay at each point.
Questions
Where do I find the toll amounts?
From the toll operator’s published rate table for your vehicle class, or your route planner. Rates change, so check before relying on them.
How do I handle a return-within-24-hours discount?
Set “Return leg charged at” to the percentage the operator charges for the return journey.
