How to use this calculator
- Enter or choose correct answers.
- Enter or choose wrong answers.
- Enter or choose skipped questions.
- The accuracy updates as you type. Use Copy result or Share to keep it.
Method
Accuracy = Correct ÷ (Correct + Wrong) × 100; Score = Correct ÷ Total × 100; Attempt rate = (Correct + Wrong) ÷ Total × 100
- Total
- correct + wrong + skipped
Worked example
- Attempted = 18 + 4 = 22 of 25 questions (88%).
- Accuracy = 18 ÷ 22 = 81.82%.
- Score = 18 ÷ 25 = 72%.
18 right, 4 wrong and 3 skipped is 81.82% accuracy but a 72% score.
What the result means
High accuracy with a low attempt rate means you know what you answer but are running out of time or confidence; low accuracy means slow down or revise.
Assumptions and limits
- Every question carries the same weight.
- For exams that deduct marks for wrong answers, use the negative marking calculator.
Questions
Is accuracy the same as score?
Only if you attempt every question. Skipped questions lower the score but not accuracy.
What is a good accuracy?
It depends on the test, but under negative marking you want accuracy well above the break-even level for the scheme.
